BROOKLANDS CYLINDER PUMP

The earliest type of pump used at Brooklands race circuit in 1907. The fuel was pumped by hand from an underground tank up into an overhead storage tank. It could then be released to flow by gravity into a steel 5 gallon cylinder with a sight glass on top to show when it was full. Then as required it could quickly be dispensed, again by gravity, into the waiting car.
